The Hartford Informer > Hartford Art School honors 2 alumna

November 2011 proved to be a sad month for the Hartford Art School community as they lost two alumni, Ashley Kozlosky and Rachael Verdicchio-Morris.

In their memory, the Art School has decided to establish a scholarship to recognize the two women who passed away within days of each other.

The Ashely Kozlosky and Rachael Verdicchio-Morris Scholarship will be awarded to a student in his or her senior year majoring in illustration or visual communication design. The first scholarship will hopefully be awarded next fall.

Verdicchio-Morris was a 2006 graduate who earned a BFA in illustration with a minor in visual communication design. She was an accomplished illustrator who ran her own business.

Kozlosky graduated in 2009 with a BFA in visual communication design. She was employed as a graphic designer by Allied World of New York City and Farmington, CT.

Both were passionate about using art to address social issues.

?They were both also known for their active social consciences and great interest in making art and design public within the local and global communities,? Tom Bradley, Hartford Art School Associate Dean, said. ?They were such shining examples of the good that our students can do when they go out into the world.?
